Torsdag Dag 4

Today was our great Scandinavian get together, and the photo journalists were hard at work again.

In the morning we hosted 12 Swedish villagers from Sjölunden at the Danske Landsby. Kaj was ready outside Skovly to great the Swedish visitors. The Danes and Swedes got to know each other in preperation for the evening program. At the same time, Sjölunden hosted villagers from Skogfjorden.

The evening program started out at Sjölunden where the 3 villages got mixed into 6 groups, and then it was on to visit the different stations set up around the 2 camps. The villagers got to hear a lot of Swedish, Norwegian and Danish while the played Handball, shared songs from the Eurovision song contest, learned about the “Allemandsret”, the historical borders of Scandinavia, heard fairytales from each country, and finally got to test out the challenges of understanding each other without the use of language.

In the end we met at the Norwegian beach around a large fire, and shared a short slide show summing up the evenings information, and making sure that everyone knew that Denmark have the only Handball world champions. Then it was time for some singing together and we ended the evening by singing the evening song from each camp.

During the day there was also time for some language learning, eating, and Kirstine becoming the new model for mosquito spray.

That pretty much sums up the day.
