A Danish Language Village

Fredag Dag 12

Today was International Day, which is a big deal here at Concordia. All the villages gather for a great spectacle at Waldsee (The German camp) and the entire afternoon is spent sampling food from all over, dancing, socializing and joining all the different activities. It all culminates with all the villages gathering in the center of the big plaza, and then each camp presents their dance/peformance of this year’s theme “Colors of Hope”. The Danish villagers once again were very creative, first with their new village cheer (Which drew a great applause and much laugther from the Norwegians and Swedes who understood the cheer. Lets just say it involved the words gulerødder, Rødgrød med fløde, havregrød og fem flade flødeboller…… Next they did their dance, and I much say that they were one of the only camps that managed to convey the message of “Colors of Hope” very clearly and with creativity.
After I-day we went back to camp, relaxed and in the evening it was time for the final evening with the Norwegians. The party went on all evening and the kids all had fun.
